Periodically, the Covilhã Museum of Sacred Art exhibits “The Saint of My Village”. This project aims to go beyond the exhibition space and showcase an important historical and artistic collection that is almost always kept in small hermitages. There are images, reliquaries, liturgical implements, altarpieces and other objects that allow us to understand the religiosity of a community and its very essence. The featured piece at the Museum of Sacred Art is a sculpture of São Domingos (liturgical feast day: 8th August), from the chapel of São Domingos in Vila do Carvalho.
