The Municipality of Ponte de Lima is preparing for the 18th edition of the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival, which will take place between May and October 2023. The competition has already had 11 new proposals selected by the jury, under the theme “Healthy Gardens”. Applications came from Portugal, Poland, Austria, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Macau (China), Argentina, France, the Czech Republic and Sweden. Distinguished internationally in 2013 with the Garden Tourism Awards at the North American Garden Tourism Conference in Toronto, Canada, and in 2017 with the “Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe” – EFFE Label 2017-2018, the event is committed to revitalising urban spaces, preserving the environment and promoting good practice in the use of gardens. The International Garden Festival is a sustainable project, as it manages to maintain the essence of preserving the environment, using materials used in previous editions whenever possible. The new gardens will join the most voted garden of the 2022 edition, “Jardim da Reflexão” – a project in partnership between Brazil and Spain.
