From Landscape to Archaeology

The geography of the Marble Anticline corresponds to the municipalities of Alandroal, Borba, Estremoz, Sousel and Vila Viçosa. In this itinerary, visitors will make an adventurous journey, using footpaths through the stunning landscape of marble quarries and heaps, nestled between hills and valleys, with vineyards and olive groves planted on the edges, and a mound of huge trees on the horizon.

The Portugal Marble Route team will take visitors to various points for landscape observation, noting archaeological evidence of various origins and chronologies.

This tour includes the visit to the quarry (only at the top level, you cannot go down to the bottom of the quarry), visit the marble processing company and visit a construction site workshop (artisan).
