Discover Templar Portugal, History and Mysteries of the 1st Templar Nation

Ahead of the greatest adventure, Discover Templar Portugal, which we propose for 2025!

This ambitious and original programme, Discover Templar Portugal, is accompanied by expert João Fiandeiro, who will guide us from north to south through the history, heritage and myths that the intrepid and mysterious knights of the Order of the Temple and its successor, the Order of Christ, created and left behind in the country they helped found – Portugal!

This is a programme that includes travel by coach and daily walking tours, all with TRY Portugal.

Day 1 – Porto – Guimarães – Póvoa do Lanhoso (Fonte da Arcada) – Porto

• AM – Departure towards Guimarães, visit to Guimarães Castle and St Michael’s Chapel

• PM – Visit to the Church of the Monastery of Fonte da Arcada (Póvoa do Lanhoso)
• Porto – dinner and accommodation

Day 2 – Porto – Santa Maria da Feira – Montemor-o-Velho – Coimbra (2 Day Programme)

• AM – Visit to Santa Maria da Feira Castle and Montemor-o-Velho Castle

• PM – Visit to the historic centre of Coimbra
• Coimbra – dinner and accommodation

Day 3 – Coimbra – Lousã – Soure – Pombal – Tomar (2 Day Programme)

Day 4 – Tomar – Dornes – Tomar

Day 5 – Tomar – Cardiga – Almourol – Castelo Branco

• AM – Outdoor visit to Quinta da Cardiga and the Templar Interpretive Centre

Day 6 – Castelo Branco – Penha Garcia – Monsanto – Idanha-a-Nova

Day 7 – Idanha-a-Nova – Vila Velha de Ródão – Santarém

• AM – Departure from Idanha-a-Nova towards Vila Velha de Ródão, visit to Ródão Castle and Portas de Ródão

Day 8 – Santarém – Rio Maior – Óbidos – Lisbon

• AM – Visit to the Rio Maior salt pans

Day 9 – Lisbon – Sintra – Cabo da Roca – Lisbon (2 Day Programme)
