14th Póvoa de Varzim International Theatre Festival É-Aqui-in-Ócio
The 14th É-Aqui-in-Ócio International Theatre Festival is almost here, taking place in Póvoa de Varzim from the autumn equinox until the first Saturday in October!
Under the theme “This House of Ours, This Dwelling of Ours, Ruins” we explore a new paradigm that redefines artistic practices and thinking, moulding the urban context and leaving a lasting impact on memories.
Since its creation in 2007, É-Aqui-in-Ocio has evolved and in 2021 we embarked on a curatorial journey focussed on socially urgent themes. Our programme presents a diverse selection of shows, from theatre to dance to interdisciplinary shows, accompanied by various parallel activities, creating a dynamic and captivating dialogue for those who want to be part of É-Aqui-in-Ócio.
We are committed to socially conscious themes and bring contemporary and avant-garde artistic expressions, presenting the best in languages and aesthetics in the performing arts.
Accessibility and inclusion are at the centre of our festival. We offer shows with audio description and LGP interpretation, room sheets in Braille and inclusive language in our communication. Our programming takes place in theatre halls but also in public spaces to reach and welcome diverse audiences, and we offer various discounts to mitigate socio-economic barriers.
Our mission is to raise awareness about climate change, sustainability and ecology in the community, fostering critical thinking and citizenship through art and culture.
