The walking trails give us a unique opportunity to discover the cultural and natural history of Pico island, through the old “Canadas” (paths) that were used frequently by the farmers and fishermen.
Walking these trails is to discover stories, lives of work and struggle of men and women, who helped to break new ground and build Pico. You can see most of the endemic and native flora of this island along these excursions through nature, in paths where the landscape says more than any word!
We suggest the Whaler’s Trail with 6 kilometers of medium difficulty.
A tour of the monuments and places related to the whaling history at Lajes do Pico.
