Arrival at Lisbon Airport
We drive for two hours until Estremoz. An old town where you might feel like a Queen or King spending the night at the Castle.
Estremoz Loop (Short 44km +350m | Long 71km +700m)
You’ll start cycling by shepherd fields, where the only sounds are the jangling bells of flocking sheep chirping. The typical Alentejo whitewashed homes outlined in blue and ochre trim and the local wine culture will enter your path on this very first day, while you visit a winery estate.
Estremoz to Vila Viçosa (Short 26km +300m | Long 66km +700m)
Cycle through villages and historical landscapes towards Vila Viçosa. Stage of battles, conquers, old communities and great people, in the capital of marble in Portugal, you can visit the Ducal Palace. You will be plenty of free time today. Check-in at local “Pousada” and walk around the charming streets.
Vila Viçosa Loop (Short 47km +300m | Long 65km +700m)
A gorgeous day is awaiting you! You will ride towards Spain by a landscape of cork trees, olive groves and flocks of sheep! Admire the beautiful Guadiana river that border Portugal and Spain and make a stop to visit Juromenha, a picturesque village overlooking Spain. On this day you must face some up- hills while return to Vila Viçosa, but your efforts will be reward with a delicious dinner.
Vila Viçosa to Monsaraz (55km +600m)
Leave Vila Viçosa and ride towards south passing the village of Alandroal and the territory of ancient tribes faithful to the mysterious god Endovelicus. Face the hill to the castle of Monsaraz and enjoy the view over Alqueva dam. Check-in at the new Hotel.
Monsaraz to Redondo (Short 46km +500m | Long 62km +700m)
Go for a golden landscape road until Redondo. Arriving at the 16th century hotel-convent you will find an impressive collection of tiles, remarkable ceramic work during centuries and Alentejo culture style. To finish the day challenge your taste and learn a bit more about Portuguese wine at the Wine Museum.
Redondo to Évora (48km +450m)
A beautiful day riding rolling hills of gold and green, through cork trees, pristine vineyards and shepherd countryside dotted by abandoned castles. Today you will arrive at the most beautiful historical city of the country and UNESCO World Heritage. Make your way there and don’t stop exploring!
Évora Loop (Short 46km +350m | Long 68km +600m)
Leave Évora’s 2000 years of history, and go explore the surroundings. Soon you will arrive in Arraiolos noted for its colourful, hand-stitched woollen tapestries. There must be one fitting of your living room back home! This is the last day riding so you have the opportunity to celebrate with portuguese wine.
