Day 1

Arrival at Porto Airport

Our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel! Make sure to have a stroll around the city. The opportunities are endless and Porto is an absolutely gorgeous city

Day 2

Porto to Pinhão

The morning will be reserved for discovering a bit more of the city of Porto. After, you will go to Pinhão by train in a journey that takes you inland and into the vineyards. The day ends at Pinhão, where you will rest at an old wine farm.

Day 3

Pinhão to Sabrosa (15 Km)

From the doorstep until Sabrosa, you will cross the wine country of Douro. The hilly slopes will be a challenge! The village of Provosende is along the way and its old manor houses will be a pleasant stop. The old paths that will take you to Sabrosa, home of Ferdinand Magellan, one of the most known navigators of the 16th century.

Day 4

Sabrosa to Alijó (12 Km)

Keep crossing the vineyards and going down the slopes to meet the Pinhão River. Meet the local rustic life and labour while heading to the small village of Favaios, known for its famous wine and its old bakeries, which still use wood ovens and date back to the late 19th century.

Day 5

Alijó to Vale de Mendiz (13 Km)

This day starts on the hill over Alijó. You will arrive at a wonderful viewpoint that overlooks the wine terraces, the Pinhão River and the neighbouring small villages that are hugged by the valleys. Vale Mendiz will be expecting you this night.

Day 6

Vale de Mendiz to Pinhão (11 Km)

A small hike will be waiting for you this morning! You will walk over the Douro River and beyond, as you will head south, east and west. Back in Pinhão it will be time to take a boat trip and discover other places along the shores of the Douro. This is an UNESCO World Heritage site and you will understand why!

Day 7

Porto – River Cruise

Day of return. A 35 minute transfer will take you to Peso da Régua where you can take a boat back to Porto. Appetizers and lunch will be served on board while you enjoy the view! Once at Vila Nova de Gaia pier, enter a wine cellar just across the street and we’ll take you back to your hotel. (Note that this cruise is only available from May to October). Alternative Visit at Casa de Mateus + transfer to Porto (all year round) Start with a 35min transfer to Peso da Régua, visit the Douro Museum and the town. A typical and tasty lunch is included in this day. After, another transfer will take you to Vila Real to visit Casa de Mateus, an old manor from the late 17th century. The visit includes a tour of the house, gardens and wineries, to taste the wines from the Douro region. Return to Porto to take you to your hotel.

Day 8

Day of Departure

After a delightful night back in Porto and its vibrant atmosphere, it’s time to end your tour. Gather all your memories, luggage, belongings and say goodbye to Portugal. It has been a great adventure and we would love for you to return and discover more of Portuga
