FROM SEA TO LAND
Military History Across an Atlantic Island by Francisco Maduro-Dias

It may be worth knowing that, according to some researchers, Eisenhower waited for the weather information from the Lajes before moving on to D-Day in Normandy. During this tour, we will unveil this and many more curiosities.

Embark on this Author Tour in the company of Francisco Maduro-Dias through Terceira Island, which keeps memories of almost all the great Atlantic Battles, from the great navigations of the 15th/16th century.

We will pass by Angra do Heroísmo through Salga Bay, Mós Bay, Praia da Vitória and World War II Cemetery. We will visit fortresses and the memory of the old and disappeared Castelo dos Moinhos. We will remember, among other things, the breaks in the blockades of the American Civil War, the scare that was to see the English Armada on its way to the rebellious colonies or the sinking of the “Revenge” in 1591.

The central idea of this invitation is to make all who want to venture into forgetting about solid grounds and dry land and see Planet Earth through the eyes of Francisco Maduro-Dias: from the Island and the Atlantic!
