Whale watching on the island of Pico

During this activity, you will have the opportunity to see some of the 28 species of cetaceans that can be found in the Azores. Although nature is unpredictable, we can often see whales and dolphins ( 98% probability ) along with turtles, birds and other marine species. The best time for whale watching in the Azores is during spring. At this point, you can see some of the largest whales in the world that pass through here during their migration. We are talking about blue whales, ordinary whales and blue whales. Lajes do Pico is one of the best places in the Azores for whale watching. It was here that the first whale-watching company in the Azores was born. Due to the depth of the sea bed in the south of Pico, the animals are able to get very close to the coast. Also, imagine being surrounded by a beautiful landscape like Pico Mountain and at the same time seeing cetaceans and other marine species right in front of you! Before the boat trip, our marine biologists will give you an explanation of what species of cetaceans can be observed, what safety measures everyone should have on board, how we respect animals and the rules of observation at sea, as well as some very interesting historical facts. During the journey, each passenger must wear a life jacket for safety reasons. Get ready it’s going to be a super fun trip!
