The Secrets of the Inner Portugal

The Estrela mountain and surrounding villages are the destiny of our journey. Here the landscapes across the high plateau of Estrela mountain are wonderful and where de glacier lagoons are queens. It has sparkling clear blue mountain lakes and rugged peaks. There are also stunning glacial formations, sub-alpine meadows, peculiar granite boulders and forested gorges, which are a most influential element in the Portuguese climate. The Juniperus communis alpine is carpeted across vast areas. Dunnocks, dart ford warblers and eagle owls habit the forests, while kestrels and goshawks circle and soar above the highest peaks. Peace reigns and there is not a soul in sight. Day 1 – Reception Meeting point: to be defined. Presentation of the tour guide and program. Day 2 08h45 / 09h00 – Meeting point: to be defined. Departure to the location of the program. 10h15 – Hiking tour in Sortelha historic village, starting and finishing in the small village of Sortelha. Coffee break in the middle of the hiking tour. 12h30 / 13h00 – Estimated time for the end of the pedestrian walk. Lunch box. (Not included) 14h30 – Guided tour with a local guide to the historic town of Belmonte. Included the visit of the medieval castle, Cabral Pantheon, Portuguese Age of Discovery Museum and Olive Oil Museum. 17h30 – Estimated time for the end of the guided tour. Day 3 09h00 – Meeting point: to be defined.Departure to the location of the pedestrian walk. Departure to the location of the pedestrian walk. 09h45 – Hiking tour with a guide called “Estrela´s Lagoons”, starting in “Torre”, the highest point in Mainland Portugal. Coffee break in the middle of the hiking tour. Lunch box. (Not included) 16h30 – Estimated time for the end of the pedestrian walk in the ski resort. Day 4 09h30 – Meeting point: to be defined. Departure to the location of the program. 10h15 – Hiking with guide tour in the historic village of Castelo Novo. Coffee break in the middle of the hiking tour. 12h30 – Estimated time for the hiking tour in Castelo Novo. Lunch box. (Not included) 15h00 – Guided tour to the Cheese Museum, Peraboa. Cheese tasting with local bread and local wine. 17h00 – Guided tour to the Cherry Museum, Ferro. Tasting of products derived from cherries (jam and liqueurs). 17h45 – Estimated time for the end of the guided tour. Day 5 09h30 – Meeting point: to be defined. Departure to the location of the pedestrian walk. 10h30 – Hiking tour with a guide called “The gorgeous valley”, starting in Covão da Ametade.
