Templar Paths

A multi millenary cultural landscape with unique elements, where pagan, Roman, Arab, Jewish and Christian influences blend themselves. The tour includes visiting the historical villages of Monsanto, Castle of Penha Garcia, Templar Castle and Episcopal Palace’s garden of Castelo Branco, as well the Mercy Church of Proença-a-Nova the Castle of King Wamba and the Castle of Amieirar do Tejo. You will enjoy the geo monuments of Inselberg of Monsanto and Portas de Ródão Natural Monument. This programme includes historical and cultural visits, as well as wellness and nature. It is designed for families and groups. Day 1 Arrival at the accommodation. Day 2 Breakfast at the accommodation. Morning: Urban Trail in Penha Garcia, the last Templar Castle on the Border. Visit the Historical Village of Monsanto – the “Stone Ship”. Lunch in a restaurant with regional cuisine experience. Afternoon: Visit Castelo Branco, Templar capital; castle and viewpoint of S. Gens, Historical Center of Castelo Branco to the romantic Bishops Palace Garden; visit the small town of Proença-a-Nova and its Mercy Church, where can be found the Holy Lumber, a small piece of the cross of Jesus Christ. Day 3 Breakfast at the accommodation. Morning: Visit the Castle of King Wamba, in the giddy border of the Açafa lands; time travel in the Castelo of Amieira do Tejo; Relaxing farewell Spa in the Thermal of Fadagosa in Nisa with a tasting of Mineral-medicinal sulfur waters. Afternoon: end of the activity.
