Superb ATLANTIC COAST

Portugal superb Atlantic /west coast is on top! Along more than 500 km, north and south of Lisbon, you could follow the coastline by road or trails, mostly in between the ocean and natural or rural landscapes. The ocean views are a constant, the bright blue of the ocean providing a huge contrast to the deep green of the forests and fields. On your path you’ll discover medieval villages and UNESCO heritage monasteries, surfer paradises, dinosaur traces and charming rural farms and traditions. What an awful task have to choose which section to ride (or even hike!)! And be it just by road or mixed terrains? Taking the suggestion of the famous surfer Garret McNamara, who first surfed the biggest wave ever here, we propose you to start at Nazaré fisherman’s village, stepping to the most western site in continental Europe at Roca Cape. You will cycle through impressive coastal cliffs, typical fishing villages and welcoming towns, experiencing genuine lifestyles, relaxing in gorgeous white sand beaches and delighting with fresh fish straight from the fishing nets. After reaching the last piece of land where the sea begins at Roca Cape, you can’t finish your journey without heading to Sintra historical village and its exuberant palaces and parks. Day 1 Welcome briefing at Nazaré. Hotel check-in. Walk around and free dinner. Day 2 Cycle Nazaré to Foz do Arelho by the Atlantic cycling path – Óbidos city visit (45 km). Day 3 Foz do Arelho (boat crossing to the South bank) – Baleal (by the cliffs) – Visit and dinner at Peniche. Accommodation at Baleal or Peniche (30 km). Day 4 Baleal / Peniche – Santa Cruz (35 km). Day 5 Santa Cruz – Ericeira (30 km). Day 6 Ericeira – Cabo da Roca – Sintra (45 km). Day 7 Hotel check-out. Optional Sintra sightseeing and visit to the Regaleira palace. Optional transfer to Cascais or Lisbon. End of activities.
