Lagoon Trail

The Óbidos Lagoon is the largest coastal lagoon system on the Portuguese coast, with a total area of approximately 6.9 km2 and an average depth of two metres. It is a place of unparalleled beauty and constitutes a fragile ecosystem where various species find a privileged habitat. Numerous aquatic and migratory birds can be observed here, but it is above all in terms of bivalve molluscs that the importance of this lagoon lies, since, besides being food for the species that occupy it, it was, and still is, a source of income for the local inhabitants. Not being part of the usual tourist routes, this route sets off to discover the most closed trails and the best place to observe the lagoon fauna. A good dose of adventure for those who like to observe nature and go unnoticed.
