CROSS THE ISLAND OF SÃO MIGUEL, FROM SOUTH TO NORTH, BY BIKE AND ENJOY THE LANDSCAPE AND THE VOLCANIC FORMATIONS.
On two wheels, by bicycle, it is certainly one of the best ways to explore and discover this paradise called São Miguel. If you are used to cycling this route is for you. We cover 35km where, starting on the south coast, we cross the island to the north coast, always surrounded by an amazing panorama that Nature offers us. There are several points of interest that we will get to know. Leaving in front of Militias beach in Livramento, we continue to Pinhal da Paz, one of the most emblematic green spaces in the Azores and, probably, the original forest of wild pine trees, of which there are few traces, however, the azalea will have been a of the ornamental species that made it better known. As we approach the north coast the view of the island is breathtaking and Morro das Capelas, an ancient submarine volcano with a basaltic nature, is not indifferent to anyone, such as the Poços de São Vicente, natural pools, the result of volcanic activity. Further ahead, get ready to be puzzled by the São Pedro Hole, which has a cavity with a diameter of 30 meters and a height of 40 meters and is still a little known place. On the way back, we’ll pass the Batalha Golf Course, one of the two courses on the island, which also has phenomenal views, where the green of the land meets the blue of the ocean. It’s a day of cycling a lot and seeing a lot! Join us on this adventure!
