Alqueva Route

Come and visit the Alqueva dam, considered the largest artificial lake in Europe and the seventh-largest Portuguese dam covering 5 counties of the Alentejo. The initial project was to irrigate the Alentejo and develop agriculture, which would combat the desertification and underdevelopment of the Region. With the construction of the dam, the old village of Luz was submerged, and today is the largest water reserve in the country.
